Built for the speed of retail

EAS Engine

Traditional (RFID) EAS setups rely on siloed information sources that can’t keep up with the pace and complexity of modern retail. They don’t know whether an item was bought online, returned in a different store, picked up via BOPIS, or paid for at a mobile checkout. That leads to unwanted alarms, poor customer experiences, and missed sales opportunities. Nedap's EAS Engine fixes this by continuously syncing real-time data from all your sources for a smooth shopping experience.

Always in Sync. Only Alarm When It Matters.

Nedap's EAS Engine is a cloud-native platform that manages the real-time status of RFID-tagged items using an advanced EPCIS engine. It determines whether an item should trigger an alarm based on payment and movement status across all channels. With sub-500ms response times, POS integration, and high security standards, it delivers fast, accurate protection without disrupting the shopper experience.

Pos

True Omnichannel Item Validation

Nedap’s EAS Engine accurately tracks every item’s status across all omnichannel shopping scenarios: BOPIS, mobile checkout, online orders, returns, and store transfers. Unlike traditional systems, it understands whether an item is truly unpaid, preventing unwanted alarms and supporting seamless shopper experiences in complex omnichannel operations.

Security management

Fast and frictionless

Nedap’s EAS Engine gives shoppers a smooth, uninterrupted exit experience, even during busy periods. With near-instant response times, it prevents unnecessary alarms and delays at the door. The result: faster checkouts, happier customers, and a retail flow that never slows down.

Energise

Cloud-Native Security and Scalability

Delivered as a SaaS solution, the EAS Engine offers high availability and built-in disaster recovery. It integrates seamlessly with POS, OMS, and RFID systems—making it easy to deploy across large retail estates without complex local infrastructure.

Omnichannel EAS

A customer pays for their item using a mobile checkout app and walks straight out. No beeps, no stops, no confusion. Behind the scenes, the EAS Engine instantly changes the item’s status, ensuring the RFID-enabled exit gate recognizes the purchase as legitimate. Whether it’s mobile checkout, BOPIS, or ship-from-store, your EAS stays in sync, so only unpaid items trigger alarms.

Speed

The EAS Database is built for ultra-low latency to ensure reliable, real-time decision-making at the store exit. Status requests from EAS hardware are processed with a global average round-trip latency of just 100 milliseconds, well below the 500ms threshold needed for timely, accurate alarming. Item status updates, such as from unsold to sold, are processed in under 3 seconds to avoid delays that could trigger unwanted alarms. Even in offline or low-bandwidth conditions, the system buffers data and suppresses alarms, preserving the shopper experience without compromising security.

Omnichannel Scenario Support

From BOPIS and mobile checkout to returns and ship-from-store, the EAS Database tracks item status across all retail scenarios. It integrates with POS, OMS, and inventory systems to ensure consistent, up-to-date information. This means alarms only go off when they should—regardless of where or how the item was purchased. Retailers gain full flexibility without sacrificing security.

Easy integrations

The EAS Database is designed for seamless integration with essential retail systems like inventory management platforms (such as iD Cloud), WMS, OMS, and POS systems. By syncing in real time with these systems, it ensures item status is always accurate and up to date across all touchpoints. This connectivity enables smarter decision-making, reduces complexity, and supports consistent alarming across the entire retail operation.

High level security

Data exchange is encrypted using industry-standard protocols, with regular penetration testing and security audits in place. The EAS Database is compliant with data protection regulations and built to withstand cyber threats. This protects sensitive item-level and transaction data across your entire retail operation. Retailers gain peace of mind and meet compliance standards without extra effort
