RBTE 2018: Nedap showcases RFID solutions

“EAS in the Cloud” & “RFID in the Cloud” for secured mobile payments & Omnichannel

Groenlo, The Netherlands, 30 April 2018

At the upcoming RBTE trade show in London, from 2-3 May 2018, Nedap (booth D105) presents its latest RFID solutions that boost the product availability in retail stores. The featured innovations for effective loss prevention and improved stock management lead to a perfect on-shelf product availability and enable true Omnichannel retailing.

Nedap & MishiPay showcase “EAS in the Cloud”
An increasing number of retailers is offering alternatives to the traditional point-of-sale by offering the possibility to their customers to do the payment on their own mobile device. These ‘seamless checkout experiences’ however conflict with traditional EAS solutions. At RBTE, Nedap and MishiPay showcase how mobile payments can be combined with RFID-based EAS systems to effectively prevent merchandise from being stolen.

Stock accuracy & Omnichannel with “RFID in the Cloud”
The !D Cloud software suite is a Software-as-a-Service solution specifically developed for retail applications, giving retailers the quickest route to implement RFID and improve their in-store stock accuracy to over 98%. The detailed insights into the stock accuracy and the exact location of each item is also the basis to successfully introduce Omnichannel concepts like “click & collect” or “buy online & return offline” without adding complexity or a separate supply chain.

iSense Lumen - iL45 RFID

Nedap introduces new iSense Lumen 3-in-1 RFID antenna

In-store hardware for article surveillance and article tracking

Groenlo, The Netherlands — May 3, 2017

Today, Nedap announces the global launch of its new iSense Lumen line. It is the latest extension of Nedap’s successful iSense hardware platform for article surveillance and article tracking in retail stores. In the first half of 2017, Nedap will introduce three iSense Lumen antennas starting with the Lumen iL45, which offers new user feedback functionalities. It can be used at multiple locations in a store, thus optimizing the retailer’s product availability.

Intuitive user feedback with light & sound
The iSense Lumen antenna line is designed to enhance the user experience through advanced light and sound options. The multi-colored lights and state-of-the-art speakers notify the store staff about  the cause and urgency of specific events with light and sound signals.

Hilbert Dijkstra, Product Manager at Nedap Retail, explains: “iSense Lumen is another big step forward in the development of article surveillance solutions. It is the result of great feedback we got after the introduction of iSense in 2014. With iSense, we completely redefined the way electronic article surveillance works, because of its intelligence. The system recognizes individual items, detects the direction of the item and gives instant feedback to the store staff.”

Intelligent 3-in-1 RFID antenna
The Lumen iL45 antenna can be placed at three key locations in a store to track article movements. At the entrance, it is able to detect which items are leaving the store and it will activate an alarm with items that have not been paid for, thus minimizing losses. The antenna can also be placed between the stock room and the sales floor to track article movements and in the back to track new deliveries.

“Product availability is an absolute necessity for retailers. Our solutions enable retailers to always have the right products available without adding complexity. Our iSense hardware platform is IP-based and uses open protocols, which makes information-exchange and integrations with other solutions very simple and straightforward,” says Rob Schuurman, Managing Director at Nedap Retail.

Calzedonia Group selects Nedap for global EAS roll-out

Stores to be equipped with Nedap’s RFID-ready loss prevention solution

Groenlo, the Netherlands — January 11, 2016

The Italian fashion retailer Calzedonia Group has selected Nedap as solution provider for security solutions such as electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems, video surveillance and intrusion detection systems. The multi-year contract encompasses the supply and installation of RF EAS hardware and consumables for loss prevention purposes. The first step entails the roll-out of EAS systems to about 50 Tezenis and Intimissimi stores. Worldwide, Calzedonia has around 4000 stores across 40 countries and the first installations were already completed in the last quarter of 2015.

Shrink reduction & future-readiness
After extensive field-testing of different EAS suppliers, Calzedonia selected Nedap’s EAS solution because of its reliable detection performance, easy connectivity and the future-proof RFID upgrade path, which makes it possible to upgrade to RFID technology in the future without the need for major additional hardware investments. All connected systems deliver real-time insights into the system and store performance for monitoring and benchmarking.

The responsible Global Risk, Security & Compliance Manager at Calzedonia stated: “As a fast growing company, we were looking for a global partner that is capable of offering the same high quality and service levels around the world. We were impressed by Nedap’s pro-active approach to lower the losses in our test stores and we are confident that the EAS roll-out to all our locations will deliver a significant impact on our profitability.”

Global partnership
While Calzedonia currently has stores all over Europe and several stores in Asia and South America, the retailer recently announced plans for expansion in the United States. According to Rob Schuurman, Managing Director at Nedap Retail: “We are proud to have been selected by Calzedonia and are looking forward to supporting the Calzedonia brands with their global expansion plans by giving the merchandise the most effective and customer-friendly protection. Our focus for 2016 is on efficient and speedy implementation through our global partner network.”

Decathlon advances with global RFID implementation

Nedap’s hybrid RF/RFID solution selected for 15th country

Groenlo, the Netherlands, 11 June 2015

French sporting goods retailer Decathlon has selected Nedap for its RFID roll-out in Croatia. Worldwide, Croatia is the 15th country where Nedap’s RFID solution was chosen following twelve other European countries, Russia and China. Decathlon is the first retailer worldwide to use RFID instore in such a large geographical area. In 415 stores across the 15 countries, Nedap supplies hybrid RF/RFID electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems at the store exits for loss prevention purposes.

360° article surveillance
Decathlon’s main driver to implement RFID is to increase inventory accuracy and avoid out-of-stocks. To benefit fully from the RFID deployment, Decathlon uses the RFID tags on the merchandise for loss prevention purposes as well. This enables Decathlon to track the merchandise from end-to-end – from the arrival until the moment it leaves the store. In addition, Decathlon secures selected items with a high theft risk with an additional RF hard tag.

Loss prevention with hybrid RF/RFID technology
The solution Nedap provides consists of EAS systems with hybrid technology combining RF and RFID technology in one gate. Initially, all Nedap RF EAS gates that were installed prior to the RFID roll-out were upgraded to hybrid RF and RFID EAS systems. For this, a clip-in RFID reader was added to the already installed RF gates. All new stores are equipped with hybrid RF/RFID EAS gates right away.
