Embedded Nedap checkout solution increases sales and reduces losses

First RF-based antenna in food retail allows retailers to combine article security and customer-friendliness
Today, Nedap announces the launch of the Checkout Antenna for loss prevention in food retail. The Checkout Antenna can reach an alarm response rate of nearly 100% without the cost of security guards. This new solution also decreases stress caused by alarms for both customers and for checkout staff.

“By introducing the Checkout Antenna, we are making a big step towards bringing together customer-friendliness and security in food retail,” said Dennis Brian, Sales Director of Food Retail at Nedap. “This antenna is placed at the end of the conveyor belt, before the payment terminal. It allows checkout staff and customers to maintain eye contact throughout the process. Staff can respond to a discrete alarm in a natural way causing potential losses to become sales. Stressful situations at the checkout are avoided, which contributes to a pleasant shopping experience while improving article security levels. This results in much higher alarm response rates than with traditional EAS systems positioned at store exits – and without the expense of security guards.”

Suitable for new and existing checkout installations
Nedap has already integrated the Checkout Antenna technology with various leading manufacturers. This allows for ease of integration, a polished finish and ensures optimum use of space in checkout aisles. Nedap launches RFID Loss Prevention Academy

Online academy supports retail executives by providing a resource center of knowledge, study guides, and tests to help aid in adoption and education of RFID technology

Nedap, the global leader in RFID-based retail solutions, today launches the RFID Loss Prevention Academy. This is an online learning environment, which consist of free online courses, study guides and tests. This will help retail executives to develop critical skills, test knowledge, and demonstrate expertise in the area of RFID-based loss prevention.

RFID-based EAS

Closing the gap between loss prevention and inventory management
More and more retailers and brands are choosing RFID to gain insight into their inventory at item level. This ensures optimal product availability. The foundation of most RFID implementations is that all items are provided with an RFID label at the source of production. The same RFID label is used for inventory management and item security. This means that no additional loss prevention is needed, as stock is already 100% security tagged from source. This eliminates additional in-store tagging costs and in the same time, it enables retailers to unlock omnichannel services such as secured mobile checkout.

RFID for loss prevention is also available as a stand-alone option. This provides retailers with a future-proof loss prevention system if they prefer to implement RFID for inventory management at a later stage.

Nedap announces five-year extended warranty on EAS products

Groenlo, The Netherlands, 9 April 2019

Nedap today announces, warranty on all new iSense-based EAS systems will be extended for up to 5 years. This applies to connected systems opted with a Fast Remote Service subscription, installed after March 31st.

It is essential for retailers to make sure their EAS systems are well-ran, in order to prevent losses by e.g. theft. Nedap provides an online platform, allowing to solve 81% of the service calls remotely, without the need to dispatch a technician to the store. This keeps system downtime to a minimum, saving retailers both time and money on maintaining EAS systems.

Rob Schuurman, Managing Director of Nedap Retail explains: “Connectivity already is widely adopted amongst retailers in order to give their customers the best possible shopping experience. You can tell by the fact that data-driven concepts such as Secure Mobile Payment are gaining popularity.

Nedap iSense EAS products have a standard warranty term of 1 year. Extended Warranty will be available for new stores with connected systems for the period of a Fast Remote Service contract (3 or 5 years) after March 31 2019.

H&M renews global multi-year contract with Nedap

Global fashion retailer selects RFID-ready loss prevention solution

Groenlo, The Netherlands — March 2, 2017

Nedap has renewed the global agreement with Hennes & Mauritz (H&M), one of the world’s largest fashion retailers, for the supply of intelligent article surveillance systems. The multi-year contract encompasses the supply and installation of Nedap’s iSense hardware and tags for new stores and refurbishments.

The iSense solution offers an outstanding detection performance, enables easy IP-integrations with other devices and direct insights via onboard dashboards. The hardware is also fully RFID-ready, which means that a future RFID upgrade is possible with the least complexity and with minimal additional investments.

Calzedonia Group selects Nedap for global EAS roll-out

Stores to be equipped with Nedap’s RFID-ready loss prevention solution

Groenlo, the Netherlands — January 11, 2016

The Italian fashion retailer Calzedonia Group has selected Nedap as solution provider for security solutions such as electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems, video surveillance and intrusion detection systems. The multi-year contract encompasses the supply and installation of RF EAS hardware and consumables for loss prevention purposes. The first step entails the roll-out of EAS systems to about 50 Tezenis and Intimissimi stores. Worldwide, Calzedonia has around 4000 stores across 40 countries and the first installations were already completed in the last quarter of 2015.

Shrink reduction & future-readiness
After extensive field-testing of different EAS suppliers, Calzedonia selected Nedap’s EAS solution because of its reliable detection performance, easy connectivity and the future-proof RFID upgrade path, which makes it possible to upgrade to RFID technology in the future without the need for major additional hardware investments. All connected systems deliver real-time insights into the system and store performance for monitoring and benchmarking.

Decathlon advances with global RFID implementation

Nedap’s hybrid RF/RFID solution selected for 15th country

Groenlo, the Netherlands, 11 June 2015

French sporting goods retailer Decathlon has selected Nedap for its RFID roll-out in Croatia. Worldwide, Croatia is the 15th country where Nedap’s RFID solution was chosen following twelve other European countries, Russia and China. Decathlon is the first retailer worldwide to use RFID instore in such a large geographical area. In 415 stores across the 15 countries, Nedap supplies hybrid RF/RFID electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems at the store exits for loss prevention purposes.

360° article surveillance
Decathlon’s main driver to implement RFID is to increase inventory accuracy and avoid out-of-stocks. To benefit fully from the RFID deployment, Decathlon uses the RFID tags on the merchandise for loss prevention purposes as well. This enables Decathlon to track the merchandise from end-to-end – from the arrival until the moment it leaves the store. In addition, Decathlon secures selected items with a high theft risk with an additional RF hard tag.

Loss prevention with hybrid RF/RFID technology
The solution Nedap provides consists of EAS systems with hybrid technology combining RF and RFID technology in one gate. Initially, all Nedap RF EAS gates that were installed prior to the RFID roll-out were upgraded to hybrid RF and RFID EAS systems. For this, a clip-in RFID reader was added to the already installed RF gates. All new stores are equipped with hybrid RF/RFID EAS gates right away.
