Nedap and Tag Company join forces in the UK retail market

Nedap N.V. and Tag Company Ltd. today announced that they will join forces in the UK market regarding Nedap retail loss prevention solutions. This combination brings together the technical and commercial strengths of both companies. Both organizations have stated that the arrangement will take effect 1 March 2020.

This cooperation stems from the close relationship that has been established over the past few years. Tag Company will be responsible for all Nedap EAS business in the UK and will be fully supported by Nedap. The two companies already had a significant position in the market separately, the new combination has a dominant market share.

This means that a dedicated Nedap team will fully focus on assisting retailers to adopt RFID. !D Cloud is used by fashion retailers worldwide to improve their on-shelf merchandise availability and execute a successful omnichannel strategy. Mountain Warehouse selects Nedap for global RFID roll-out

Inventory accuracy a key factor to maintain growth

Mountain Warehouse, a major UK outdoor apparel and equipment retailer, has selected !D Cloud, Nedap’s leading inventory management solution for a global deployment to 400 stores. The deployment started in January 2020 in the United Kingdom, continuing with Europe, North America and New Zealand with the main objective being to improve inventory accuracy, leading to better product availability.

Strategic roadmap around RFID
Mountain Warehouse has been growing year on year for 2 decades now. To continue this success, it’s vital that the retailer continues to be agile and move with customer behavior. Aligning bricks and mortar with the digital experience of using RFID is an essential ingredient to maintain this growth.

Eliminating a high level of investment with Virtual Shielding™
Mountain Warehouse ran a previous project looking into the benefits of RFID. The improvement in accuracy, although with a different supplier, supported the business case which in turn started the Request for Proposal process.

First Belgian fashion brand to deploy RFID on a large scale

Nedap announces that luxury brand Essentiel Antwerp signed up for a European deployment of !D Cloud, Nedap’s leading inventory visibility platform. Implementing RFID technology throughout Essentiel’s stores worldwide, enables the brand to optimize inventory accuracy in order to ensure on-shelf product availability. The roll-out will start first semester 2020 when the first source tagged items hit the stores, and will be completed within two months.

Fast roll-out through self-deployment

In order to ensure a fast and smooth roll-out process, Essentiel Antwerp will be using Nedap’s self-deployment methodology. This methodology enables Essentiel to deploy at a fast pace, using existing in-house training and roll out infrastructure.

Digital-first activewear brand implements RFID inventory management to improve web order fulfillment and on-shelf availability

Today Nedap announces that digital first activewear brand Outdoor Voices has selected !D Cloud, Nedap’s leading RFID inventory management platform. One of the key objectives within this deployment is achieving full inventory visibility. This implies that all items, whether located in the distribution center or in stores, are consolidated into one centralized inventory hub. This allows Outdoor Voices to further unlock omnichannel services, such as ship-from-store, without the need for separate stock in order to fulfill web orders and replenish stores.

RFID is a no-brainer
The Outdoor Voices team already had experience using RFID and knew the value it brings retail organizations. Ship-from-store
As a digital-first company, online orders play a significant part of Outdoor Voices’ business. Order fulfillment therefore is crucial. One of the key results of the pilot project is that the amount of lost sales due to inaccurate stock dropped significantly. Web orders are located and picked from store shelves using Zebra RFID handhelds equipped with the !D Cloud app. Orders are then shipped from there when they are not available in the distribution center. In addition, in-store safety stocks can be lowered as full inventory visibility allows for efficient replenishment.
Besides the benefits to their omnichannel journey, the use of RFID allows for increased product availability and improved on-shelf availability that has ultimately transpired in a lift for Outdoor Voices.

Nedap announces five-year extended warranty on EAS products

Groenlo, The Netherlands, 9 April 2019

Nedap today announces, warranty on all new iSense-based EAS systems will be extended for up to 5 years. This applies to connected systems opted with a Fast Remote Service subscription, installed after March 31st.

It is essential for retailers to make sure their EAS systems are well-ran, in order to prevent losses by e.g. theft. Nedap provides an online platform, allowing to solve 81% of the service calls remotely, without the need to dispatch a technician to the store. This keeps system downtime to a minimum, saving retailers both time and money on maintaining EAS systems.

Rob Schuurman, Managing Director of Nedap Retail explains: “Connectivity already is widely adopted amongst retailers in order to give their customers the best possible shopping experience. You can tell by the fact that data-driven concepts such as Secure Mobile Payment are gaining popularity.

170 Fiorella Rubino brand stores equipped with Nedap’s iD Top RFID overhead reader

Nedap’s iD Top Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) overhead reader for electronic article surveillance has been installed in 170 Fiorella Rubino brand stores throughout Italy. Fiorella Rubino is part of Miroglio Group, a leading fashion chain with 1.100 owned and franchise stores. The RFID rollout at the Fiorella Rubino stores is part of Miroglio’s Retail 4.0 initiative, aimed at improving its overall retail efficiency, loss prevention and service level.

Loss prevention with RFID
For the implementation of its RFID-reader in the 170 stores of the Fiorella Rubino brand, Nedap collaborated with technology company Temera. Temera’s modular TMR Core software platform enables RFID-based product tracking throughout the supply chain – from production to POS – to improve a retailer’s stock accuracy and enable omnichannel services.

Nedap’s ceiling-mounted iD Top is installed at store exits, to identify any unpaid item leaving the store. When an RFID label is read by the iD Top, data is shared directly with the TMR Core platform. Arcangelo D’Onofrio, CEO at Temera: “We tested RFID overhead readers of different suppliers during the Proof-of-Concept phase and came to the conclusion that the iD Top is the best-performing overhead reader in the market. Nedap wins Brique d’Or innovation award with !D Top

RFID solution for retail stores offers more selling space without false alarms

At the 16th Briques d’Or ceremony organized by the club Enseigne & Innovation in France, Nedap won the Brique d’Or for the most innovative retail product with its !D Top – a ceiling-mounted RAIN RFID reader. Nedap’s !D Top was recognized as the most innovative solution by the jury, because this ceiling-mounted RFID reader takes up no selling space in the store, offers reliable detection and prevents false alarms with state-of-the-art tag filtering and direction detection.

No loss of selling space
As no floor space is required, the !D Top is a very suitable EAS solution for stores with limited space in the entrance area, because it keeps the store entrance clean and open. The !D Top overhead readers blend seamlessly into the store design and filter out non-moving tags in the direct environment of the reader. This makes it possible to place tagged merchandise in the premium selling space near the store entrance.

Tag filtering and direction detection
The !D Top is equipped with a sophisticated antenna array that dynamically creates a multitude of independent beams in different directions. With this beam steering functionality, the smart integrated reader determines whether a product is really moving or if it is just a stationary tag. The functionality also detects in which direction each RFID label is moving, which makes it possible to reliably monitor if a person carrying a garment is actually leaving the store or just passing underneath the !D Top.

Maximum performance with compact design
With a size of 15” by 15” (37 cm x 37 cm), the !D Top is an extremely small and lightweight integrated RFID reader that can be fitted to the ceiling using a standard VESA mount, keeping the entrance of the store completely open. The !D Top can be used stand-alone as RFID-based EAS system or as an RFID upgrade to any existing traditional EAS system.

EuroCIS 2016: Nedap showcases stock availability solutions

At the upcoming EuroCIS trade show in Düsseldorf, from 23 – 25 February 2016, Nedap presents stock availability solutions for the global retail sector. The key solutions presented by Nedap (booth 10A02) are the !Sense hardware portfolio and the !D Cloud software suite. These solutions enable retailers to permanently lower their shrinkage levels and significantly improve their on-shelf merchandise availability.

!Sense : Concealed EAS systems & effective alarm management
Nedap’s !Sense portfolio includes RF/ RFID antennas and smart readers for electronic article surveillance (EAS) and in-store merchandise tracking. At EuroCIS, Nedap will showcase its hybrid (RF/ RFID) pedestals and concealed solutions – a RAIN RFID overhead reader and a door-mounted RF antenna. These solutions blend seamlessly into the store design, offer a better customer experience and enable a larger selling space in the highly frequented entrance area.

To support the store staff with their alarm management, Nedap presents plug & play IP-integrations with pagers and the cameras and video management software from Axis Communications. With the pager integration, staff members instantly receive a discrete signal in case of an EAS or metal detection alarm while the Axis integration makes it possible to record all EAS events in the video management software. The Axis Camera Application for !Sense can also raise alarms and trigger live views. This enables time savings and a more effective shrink reduction.

!D Cloud : Accurate stock data & omni-channel enablement
The !D Cloud software suite is a Software as a Service solution specifically developed for retail applications, giving retailers the quickest route to implement RFID and improve their in-store stock accuracy to over 98%. !D Cloud translates the collected data from RAIN RFID readers in the stores into comprehensive lists that highlight the out-of-stocks and overstocks. Thereby, the causes of stock differences, through losses or administrative errors, can be identified and dealt with more quickly.

A better understanding of the actual on-shelf availability enables retailers to finally do perfect replenishment which proves to significantly increase sales. The detailed insights into the exact location of each item also makes it possible to connect the stock of the physical stores with the retailer’s online platforms.
